The 49 Burned Horns
WARNING: THIS ISN'T TRUE! NOT MY FAULT IF YOU THINK IT IS.
Researchers all around the world discovered that rhinos were going extinct cause of one big reason. POUCHING. Poachers all around the world had shot rhinos for their horns to make big money. The population of big feather rhinos had gone down by 72%. Very less are left in the environment. About 500 rhinos.
The big feather rhinos or BFR has 8 horns and each of them costs 600,000$ on the black market. The hard tusk rhino only has 1 horn but it costs 9,999,999,999$. There are only about a maximum of 4 left in the wild. Lot's of buyers had to work together to buy a tusk rhino horn. The most common rhino is the common rhino which has 2 horns and each costs 100,000.
There are about 20,000 common rhinos in the world. Researchers had collected 50 rhino horns from everyplace with the help of their government. It's for their safety. They sedated the rhinos, then sawed the horns off. That way the rhinos could stay alive and the researchers could get the horn.
This project was called "the orchestra concerto" as a code name for poachers. They lit a enormous bonfire and heaved the horns in them using a 10,000 foot tall crane. One of them was even a hard tusk rhino horn, which required 4 cranes. Did I forget to tell how big they are? Anyways, when the researchers counted there were only 49! A poachers must have found out about the project and stole the hard tusk rhino horn! The researchers just shook their heads and were glad the rest were gone. They let it go because they saved 49 horns, even if it wasn't fifty.
